Leadership from Within

You carry the responsibility of leading others. What if you had a trusted circle of women who understand what leadership asks of you?

Protea is a confidential leadership experience where women principals, district leaders, and superintendents reconnect with themselves, draw strength and wisdom from one another, and lead with greater clarity, resilience, and quiet confidence.

Protea Leadership

Who supports the woman everyone else looks to?

Your work touches countless lives.

You hold the aspirations of students and families, the needs of educators, the expectations of your community, and the responsibility of leading through whatever comes next.

You chose this work because you believe deeply in what public education can make possible.

Yet when so much of your attention is directed outward, there are few places to pause, listen inwardly, and attend to the woman within the role.

Strengthen the woman within the role, and you strengthen the leadership she brings to her school, district, and community.

A Different Kind of Leadership Development

What if growing as a leader did not mean becoming better at carrying more?

What if, instead, you had a trusted circle in which to pause, to speak openly, reflect honestly, and reconnect with the wisdom already within you?

Not another initiative to lead.

Not another strategy to implement.

A space to be supported, strengthened, and fully yourself.

This is leadership development from within.

Seen

By women who understand leadership.

.

Supported

With space to speak honestly.

Strengthened

To lead with self-trust.

I help women in educational leadership deepen the inner strength, clarity, and self-trust that allow them to lead themselves and others with greater wisdom, resilience, and purpose.

Whether leading a school, supporting leaders across the district, or serving as a superintendent, women bring extraordinary commitment to work shaped by complexity and sustained responsibility. Their work is deeply meaningful. Space for their own continued growth matters, too.

How a leader experiences herself shapes how she leads. With time to reflect, discern, and reconnect with their own wisdom, women can bring greater presence and authenticity to their decisions, relationships, and the communities they serve.

Words From Leaders

Who Know My Work

"Paula understands the complexity of educational leadership because she has lived it. She combines deep experience with a rare ability to build trust, ask the right questions, and help leaders move forward with greater clarity and confidence. She's able to listen beyond the immediate challenge, recognize what others may miss, and help leaders trust their own insight.”  ~Amy Alderman, Educational Leadership Consultant

"Paula deeply appreciates the complex environment that women in educational leadership positions navigate every day. Women in the highest level leadership positions face more scrutiny than their male counterparts and Paula worked in these positions. She combines her advocacy for women with her expert skills in coaching to create a space for women to connect with their strengths and lead as the strong women they are. "

~ Dr. Maggie Fehrman, Superintendent Asheville City Schools

Meet Paula

I believe leadership begins within.

For more than 35 years, I have served public education as a teacher, principal, state-level school improvement leader, nonprofit regional director, coach, and facilitator. Across those roles, I have witnessed the joy, purpose, and complexity of leadership and the difference it makes when leaders have trusted space to reflect and grow.

Today, I bring together decades of educational leadership experience with coaching and reflective practices to create that space for women leading schools and districts: a place to reconnect with themselves, trust their own wisdom, and lead with greater clarity, courage, and grace.

Your leadership matters.

So does the woman within it.
